【Hinamatsuri (Doll’s Festival)】
Have you ever heard of the word Hinamatsuri? It is a big event for girls held in March, Japan. I would like to introduce some information of Hinamatsuri, so you can actually enjoy the event in Japan.
Hinamatsuri(Doll’s Festival) is an occasion to pray for young girls’ growth and happiness, and celebrated each year on March 3.
Most families with girls display dolls for the Doll’s Festival called Hina-ningyo, and it is said that the dolls depict the imperial court.
Long ago, people threw paper dolls into rivers and in the sea to drive away evil spirits with them, but people began displaying dolls in the Edo period instead of doing that.
A set of dolls includes the Emperor(odairi-sama), the Empress(ohina-sama), three court ladies(sannin-kanjo), five court musicians(gonin-bayashi), the minister of the left(sadaijin), the minister of the right(udaijin) and three servants(sannin-jougo). You can tell that the design is so fine and high quality, so costs around
¥50,000 to ¥200,000.
Today, we eat traditional dishes like Scattered sushi(chirashi-sushi), clam soup, sweet white sake(shirozake), rise cake cubes(hina arare) and diamond-shaped rice cakes(hishimochi) for the Doll’s Festival.

ひな祭りという言葉を聞いたことがありますか？
日本で3月に開催される女の子の一大イベントです。 日本で”ひな祭り”を実際楽しめるように、ひな祭りの情報を紹介します♪
ひなまつりは、女の子の成長と幸せを祈る行事で、毎年3月3日に開催されます。 女の子がいるほとんどの家庭では、「ひな人形」と呼ばれる、ひなまつり用のお人形を飾り、その人形は宮中の様子を表していると言われています。
昔は厄払いのために、川や海に紙人形を流していましたが、江戸時代にそれをする代わりに、「ひな人形」を飾るようになりました。
ひな人形には、お内裏様、お雛様、三人官女、五人囃子、右大臣、左大臣、三人上戸がいます。 デザインがとても細かく、高品質なものであることから、平均5万円～20万円ほどで売られています。
現在では、ひな祭りにちらし寿司、はまぐりのお吸い物、白酒、雛あられ、ひしもちなどの伝統料理を食べます。
