[Osu Shopping District History and Present]
Aichi Prefecture has many historical buildings and places. When it comes to historical places, many things gradually die out, but Osu Shopping District is still very busy and popular among young people as a place to eat while walking and shopping. This time, we will introduce the history of Osu Shopping District and its current state!
The history of Osu dates back to about 400 years ago. In 1612, two years after Nagoya Castle was built, Osu Kannon moved to Gifu-Hashima, and this area came to be called “Osu”. Since then, the Osu shopping district, which extends from Osu Kannon, has prospered greatly as a temple town.
Osu has become famous as a center for performing arts, and remained so until the early 1950s. However, in the 1960s, while the department stores and underground malls in Nagoya Station and Sakae were bustling with activity, the Osu shopping district became deserted, and dozens of entertainment facilities were demolished one after another. However, this critical situation actually worked in favor of the revitalization of the shopping district.
In the latter half of the 1970s, the Ameyoko building, electronics stores, and computer shops began to gather, and together with Akihabara and Nihonbashi (Osaka), it became known as one of Japan’s three major electric towns. After that, like other electric towns, it strengthened its character as an “otaku town”.
Today, there are many shops selling foreign products and shops where foreigners gather, and it also has the aspect of a multinational city where you can experience the culture, fashion, and gourmet food of various countries. It is also a fashion town where many people, regardless of age or gender, come looking for cheap clothes, fashionable accessories, and second-hand clothes, and it is bustling with many shoppers every day.

[ 大須商店街 歴史と現在 ]
愛知県は、歴史ある建物や場所がたくさん存在しております。歴史ある場所となると、徐々に廃れて行ってしまうものも多くある中で、大須商店街は現在でも非常に賑わっており、若者を中心に食べ歩きや買い物スポットとして大人気です。今回は、大須商店街の歴史と、現在の様子までご紹介します！
大須の歴史は、今から約４００年前まで遡ります。名古屋城が築城された1610年から２年後の1612年、岐阜羽島の大須観音が移転してきたことから、この界隈は「大須」と呼ばれるようになりました。以来、大須観音から通りが延びる大須商店街は門前町として大いに栄えた。
大須は芸どころの中心地として有名となっており、1950年代始めまではそのような名残がありました。しかし、1960年代、名古屋駅・栄の百貨店や地下街が賑わいを増していく一方で大須商店街は閑散としていき、何十軒とあった娯楽施設もつぎつぎと取り壊されていきました。ところが、この危機的な状況が、むしろ商店街再生にとって有利に働いたのです。
1970年代後半になると、アメ横ビルや家電販売店、パソコンショップなどが集まりはじめ、秋葉原、日本橋（大阪）とともに日本三大電気街といわれるようになりました。その後は、他の電気街と同様に、「オタク街」としての性格を強めていきました。
現在では、海外の商品を販売する店舗や外国人が集まる店舗などが多くあり、さまざまな国々の文化やファッション、グルメに触れることができる多国籍な街という側面も持っています。また、老若男女問わず、安価な洋服やおしゃれ小物、古着を求める人々が多く訪れるファッションの街でもあり、毎日多くの買い物客で賑わっています。
